How to identify the quality of acrylic sheets

Acrylic sheets have extremely strong weather resistance.High surface hardness and excellent gloss. It can be used to manufacture various products that are needed. However, the quality of acrylic varies. The quality will directly determine the performance state and service life of acrylic.

What material is acrylic

The chemical name of acrylic is polymethyl methacrylate. It is an important thermoplastic engineering material that permeates every aspect of our lives. Its transparency is generally as high as 92%, while Arris’ acrylic sheet can achieve over 94%.Acrylic materials possess excellent chemical structural stability, fire resistance, and easy dyeability.Acrylic is very easy to process and has a wide range of applications in the construction industry, furniture design products, and sanitary ware.

How to identify the quality of acrylic sheets

  1. Observation method

Directly observe whether the surface glossiness of the acrylic sheet is high. You can also scratch the surface of the acrylic board with your nails and observe if there are any scratches left easily. This enables us to determine its basic quality.

  1. Combustion method

Try to ignite the acrylic sheet with a heat source. If it burns quickly, it indicates that the quality of the acrylic raw material is poor. While 100% pure acrylic is not flame-retardant, it will not continue to burn once it is removed from the heat source.

  1. Transillumination Method

Use white light to pass through the acrylic board.High-quality acrylic sheets have a high light transmittance and are completely transparent. If there is a yellow or blue luster, it indicates poor product quality.

  1. Pasting method

The inferior acrylic material is difficult to separate after being heated and melted. And high-quality acrylic materials can still be separated.
