Surface Bonding
Surface bonding is the most widely used bonding technique and is also the most commonly employed one in the manufacturing of various acrylic products. The first thing to do is to clean the surface of the acrylic that needs to be bonded. In order to prevent the bonding material from shaking, the method of using a mold for bonding can be adopted. This operation is beneficial for improving the quality of the bonding. For sections with a thickness of up to 3mm, the adhesive can be applied directly using a syringe, injecting it evenly and slowly from one side. Then, shine a UV curing lamp on it for 3-5 minutes to complete the bonding. For bonding with a thickness greater than 3mm, fine metal wires can be inserted to complete the gluing process by utilizing the principle of capillary effect.Remove the metal wire before exposing it to the ultraviolet curing lamp after applying glue.Or, you could use adhesive tape to cover the parts that don’t need to be adhered.Apply glue to the areas left unglued, then insert the acrylic sheet at an angle to squeeze out the air bubbles.Shine the UV curing lamp for 3-5 minutes to complete the bonding.
Connection
Place the two acrylic plates that need to be connected together horizontally on the workbench. Then, place a piece of tape at the bottom, leaving a gap no wider than 0.3mm for the use of adhesive. Then use a syringe to evenly inject the adhesive into the gaps until they are completely filled. Once it is fully set, you can remove the tape.
Inclined surface bonding
The bonding surface must have a 90-degree template to ensure that the bonded surface does not shift during the operation. When applying glue, it should be done evenly and slowly.Remove the template after it has completely solidified.
Plane bonding
Plane bonding is a particularly distinctive method.First, clean the surface to be glued thoroughly and place it horizontally. Then apply the adhesive on it.
Tilt one side of another acrylic sheet to touch the acrylic coated with glue, then lower it down slowly and evenly, pushing out air bubbles from one side or using clamps to remove the bubbles.
Just shine the ultraviolet curing lamp on for 3 to 5 minutes, and the bonding process will be completed.
